Public activists are carrying out a protest rally outside the General Prosecutor’s Office in Kiev, demanding from the head office Victor Shokin to fulfill the requirements necessary for Ukraine’s visa-free regime with the European Union.
Earlier e-petition with a proposal to fire the Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, received more than 25 thousand votes needed for President’s consideration.
Prosecutor General of Ukraine in September this year, signed a decree on the establishment of specialized anti-corruption prosecutor. According to the law, on the agency charged the supervision of law compliance during the pre-trial investigation, which is carried out by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and representation of citizens interests in cases related to corruption offenses.
Kiev expects to receive visa-free regime with the European Union at the beginning of 2016. However, it needs to fulfill a number of requirements. In particular, it’s referred to improving passport control at the borders and the introduction of internal passports (European standard) in the form of biometric ID-cards.
