The European Union will lift sanctions against Belarus, including Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. It is reported by Reuters, citing a diplomatic source.

It is noted that EU foreign ministers could decide this on Monday, October 12, after three weeks of difficult negotiations. The reasons for a positive impact on the Ministers negotiations considered the pardon of six political prisoners, which occurred in August of this year, and the promotion of Belarus in the course of peace talks on Ukrainian crisis.

«Depending on Lukashenko’s behavior on the presidential elections, the decision to suspend the sanctions for four months will be officially accepted on Monday», — said the source.

In addition, Lukashenko’s decision on the placement of Russian air base in the country acted a part as well.
