During the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Brussels, several skirmishes occurred between intelligence agents of Belgium and Turkey, reports RTBF broadcaster.


The most serious conflict was in the building of the Royal Institute of International Affairs. The cause of the quarrel was the checking of one of the rooms security where the Turkish leader had to give a speech.


Erdoğan’s intelligence agencies chose to check the building manually, despite the fact that it was the responsibility of the host country. Belgian colleagues thought it was disrespectful. As a result, one of Erdoğan’s guards hit Belgian with elbow, after what he was knocked down.


Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in Brussels from 4 to 6 October. During his official visit, he discussed immigration policy regarding to refugees, as well as the situation in Syria after the start of the Russian operation against «Islamic state» militants. The activities of this terrorist organization are banned in Russia.
