In the Finnish town of Lahti, demonstrators showered a bus carrying refugees with fires and stones.
The protest began after information that the former Hennala barracks will be accommodated by asylum-seekers.
In the bus were 49 asylum seekers, including families with children.
Also, about an hour before the arrival of the bus Red Cross members were pepper with stones as well. One of the demonstrators was dressed in Ku Klux Klan costume.
In connection with the incident, police detained several people.
Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipilä and other government officials have condemned the event in Lahti.
The Interior Ministry head assured that the incident with the refugees will be properly investigated by the police. The head of the Interior Ministry Office, in turn, called the event in Lahti as «isolated incident» and assured that the police is able to ensure the security of both refugees and indigenous people of the country.
