On September 22, at the territory of Ukraine in the area of the border crossing «Kalanchak» border guard service arrested the former deputy of the Sevastopol City Council Vladimir Galichay, who was returning to the Crimea with his family from the Cherkassy region.

There are evidences that he was already transferred to Kiev on treason charges, said a member of the Federation Council Andrey Sobolev.

As told his wife Nina, she and her husband on September 5, without any problems entered the territory of Ukraine with Ukrainian passports to visit relatives. On September 22, they went back to Crimea.

«Yesterday at 3:00 p.m. we arrived to «Kalanchak». Border guards, customs, inspection of documents. Suddenly ran three submachine gunners, spoke on the radio — no paperwork. Husband was detained», — said the woman.

Border guards didn’t identify themselves, but asked:

— Vladimir A. Galichay?

— Yes.

— Born in ’48?

— Yes.

— Come with us.

The wife of the detainee thought it was a mistake. But after several hours of waiting, her husband won’t let go.

«I wasn’t allowed to see my husband until midnight! I tried to find out what was wrong. As were explained, the Security Service of Ukraine sent a resolution of Pechersk Court on August 27, 2015 that my husband is accused of treason», — said Galichay’s wife.

According to her, her husband was examined, he replied that he had retired, and in 2014 was a deputy of the Sevastopol City Council. In response SBU members told: «You were a deputy of the city council and to the detriment of Ukraine voted for a referendum».

After the interrogation Galichay’s blood pressure jumped up, was called a doctor and given a jab. His wife was able to give him medication (he suffers from diabetes). And at three o’clock in the morning on September 23, he reported that he is being taken to Kiev.

According to Article 111 of the Criminal Code, treason is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years.
